Oneida Lake Chicken Wing Run is a fun run on Oneida Lake that brings in hundreds of performance boats and hundreds of spectators to raise money for the Sylvan Beach Fire Department along with supporting local businesses. You can read all about the history on the ABOUT tab.
It is the 3rd weekend in September, the actual run is Saturday morning, however there are activities planned for the weekend.
The boats participating in the run along with their drivers. Cruisers that tie up to the wall that weekend have a separate registration.
Pre-registration is currently open for the 2025 run. Please see the registration tab.
Yes, but we highly recommend pre-registering for the event! It makes the registration process much faster as your order is already done and all you have to do is come pick up your swag bag and get your boat sticker. Saturday morning is extremely busy and registration closes PROMPTLY at 10 am.
Information on your boat (so we know what class sticker you'll need), copy of your insurance, proof of boater safety (required by NYS) and to sign the liability waiver. You'll also need to know what size shirt or tee you need.
You need to go to the registration tent to pick up your swag bag, boat sticker, information packet and wrist bands.
Depends on which package you register for. Please see registration page for more information.
Yes, single lunch or dinner tickets can be purchased, but a VIP package has to be purchased in order to participate in the run.
If you pre-register all you have to do is go to the registration tent to pick up your order. Your shirts will be in your bag. In the event the shirt is too small or too large you may bring it to a staff member and exchange it for a different size.
Again, highly recommend pre-registration! Registration at the event will begin Friday, September 19th from 11 am until 7 pm and again Saturday, September 20th from 7 am to 10 am.
Unfortunately no. The only spots that are reserved are for the flag boats, photography boat and for the boats that are involved in the street party/special guests. It is a first come first served for being able to tie up to the wall directly. Due to limited space boats tie off of each other. We also have dock masters on staff.
The SBFD has a permit for the whole North wall for that weekend, non-participating boats can tie up on the South Wall.
Please contact us at OneidaLakeChickenWingRun@gmail.com and we will put you in touch with the committee member that handles it. There is limited space for boats for the street party.

The Oneida Lake Chicken Wing Run primarily benefits the Sylvan Beach Fire Department who responds the largest portion of Oneida Lake for emergency calls. The SBFD volunteered to assist with this run since 2012 before it was known as the OLCWR and before they took over organizing it in 2023. The original organizers of the event chose to donate the money to the SBFD as a thank you for supporting the boating community. This run brings in hundreds of participants and hundreds of spectators.
We support local businesses by using them when we purchase items for the event from signs, garments, swag, food and drinks not to mention all of the revenue that is brought into local restaurants, lodging and other businesses. We have been told by businesses that this weekend is the largest source of revenue for them all year. The SBFD supports local businesses all year long.
The SBFD hosts other fundraiser during the year that benefit other organizations such as Believe 271 that support fire fighters, EMT's, first responders who have life threatening illnesses.
Yes, of course. So glad you asked.
* We are asking for only 7 boats wide be tied off until we have 7 deep the length of the wall.
* The last boat tied off (into the canal) needs to put out an anchor light so other boats can see you during the night
* Missing cleats have been re-installed and you can tie off the full length of the wall!
