Our Purpose
The Oneida Lake Chicken Wing Run is a volunteer-driven event dedicated to giving back to the community that makes Oneida Lake one of Central New York's most beloved places to be on the water. Every September, we bring boaters, families, and friends together at Sylvan Beach and Brewerton for a day of food, fun, and friendly competition, all in support of local causes that matter to us. We raise funds through boater entry fees, corporate and local sponsors, raffles, and community donations. Our commitment is simple: the proceeds go to work right here at home, supporting the first responders who protect us on the water and the neighbors who need a hand.
Our Mission
With the support of dedicated volunteers, the Oneida Lake Chicken Wing Run's mission is threefold:
- Host a fun, safe event that celebrates the boating community of Oneida Lake.
- Promote Sylvan Beach, Oneida Lake, and the surrounding lake region.
- Raise money and awareness for the people and services that keep our lake community safe, healthy, and cared for.
About Us
The first ever run was in 2012 and was called the Fall Fun Run with 36 boats, starting off shore and ending at the Waterfront who put on a chicken wing buffet for the boaters. It was an opportunity for the performance boats to get one last run in as the boating season was coming to an end. It gained momentum thanks to social media and has grown into what it is today.

We'd also like to thank the many volunteers that have stepped forward to make this event possible volunteering their precious time.

In 2026 a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation was formed to take on the run. Please meet your team!

Since 2012, proceeds from the Oneida Lake Chicken Wing Run have supported water rescue efforts and first responders across the Oneida Lake community. Our mission is to support local fire departments, safe boating initiatives, and community needs around the lake.
Today, we continue that tradition while expanding our support to community initiatives that align with our charitable mission. Organizations seeking funding may request a Community & First Responder Funding Request Form. All requests are reviewed by our committee and considered for support from funds raised through this year's event.
